Thomas R. Matheny, AIA
Architect
Vice President Chief Financial Officer

Tom is an architect and a principal of Schooley Caldwell. He has a diverse background leading, managing and designing public projects including statehouses, courthouses, civic buildings, educational facilities and recreation centers.

This background makes him an expert in the planning and execution of complex public projects that include comprehensive phased renovation plans, multiple bid packages with numerous prime contracts, and extensive on-site collaboration during construction.  In addition he has led and participated in the evaluation of countless existing facilities and master planning projects.

His background includes sustainable design practices, having led the largest LEED certified renovation project in Columbus.

Tom is affiliated with the national, state and local chapters of the American Institute of Architects, the Columbus Landmarks Foundation (past president), National Trust for Historic Preservation, Heritage Ohio, Alpha Rho Chi Architectural Fraternity (past president), Upper Arlington Historical Society (president), and The Ohio State University Alumni Association.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from The Ohio State University.  Tom has been recognized for excellence in the architectural profession, receiving the AIA Scholastic Medal for Academic Achievement and the OSU Department of Architecture Faculty Prize.

While Tom claims that architecture is his first love, those of us at the office aren’t sure … we’re leaning toward his red, 1978 Fiat Spider.
